Peter Brown hails from Birmingham and has been playing instruments for as long as he can remember. Over his years of musical study he has built up a balanced profile as a performer, composer, teacher and recording artist.
He spent his formative years playing piano, before developing skills as an accomplished guitar player. In combination with his exploration of multiple genres, Peter has been equipped with a wide musical vocabulary that has afforded him many opportunities to record and perform with a roster of diverse artists. From 2004 he recorded with Surinder Sandhu, including an album in 2008 performing alongside the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, whilst touring concert halls performing parts originally recorded by Steve Vai. He has continued to perform and record with contemporary artists such as The Musgraves, Meme Detroit, Tara Chinn and most recently Brandy Row.
In 2009 Peter formed what would become a successful and long standing collaborative relationship with Alastair Jamieson, owner of Park Studios JQ, where he would become an in-house session musician, contributing his talents to many recordings and further developing his skill set as a producer and engineer. The relationship forged with Alastair would enable their biggest personal successes, whilst undertaking an ambitious project to record independent solo albums in tandem with one another. The fruits of that collaboration would be heard in the Music For Trains and Beyond The Glass albums in 2014. Peter has continued to work as a solo artist and most recently released The Kabuki Drop, a conceptual work based on themes of isolation. His work as a solo musician has drawn contributions from respected artists including Dave Clarke, Miles Levin and Steve Hogarth from Marillion. His most recent album of acoustic instrumentals has been published by Universal Music and is licensed for use by the BBC.
Peter is also a respected educator, working primarily as a private instrumental teacher and having previously provided services for the Academy of Music and Sound. He was recently awarded the Certificate of Music Educators (CME) qualification, an accreditation awarded to teachers by the Associated Board of Music, and also holds a First-Class Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA Hons) in Music for Education and Community Practice. Says Peter: "Teaching inspires further learning, every lesson can bring a surprise and it is such a pleasure to help future musicians to develop their skills".
